Colonie

Jamie and I had a fabulous dinner at Colonie last night, courtesy of our wonderful friend Jamie Burgess (thank you!!). It's a really cute spot, dimly lit with plants, an open kitchen, and a friendly staff. If anyone is looking for a great restaurant in Brooklyn Heights, this is a perfect choice. The grapefruit chili margarita is an excellent cocktail choice.

We had the Wellfleet oysters - wow! They were so sweet and tasty, and the cucumber mignonette sauce is an excellent accompaniment. A little sweet, not too tart. I could have eaten 10 more.
The octopus with chorizo broth was great, especially the chorizo broth.
The duck rillette is fabulous. Not too fatty. Sort of a pulled pork consistency.
The steak frites is great - and the aioli is amaaazing. So light and fluffy.
The cavatelli with pork ragu is spicy with black paper and really good (apparently it's the staff favorite).

Great dinner!!
